Join Big Nath’s BBQ and Matt from Grove Game Larder for a very special day dedicated to wild game, butchery and cooking over fire.

From understanding where wild game comes from and the role it plays in conservation, through to breaking down a whole deer and turning incredible British game into a proper BBQ feast, this will be a relaxed, hands-on day packed with knowledge, great food and warm hospitality.

🕙 Arrival: 10:00am

⏳ Duration: Approx. 5–5.5 hours

* 🦌 Introduction to wild game, conservation and responsible harvesting

* 🔪 Live demonstration: skinning and breaking down a whole deer

* 👐 Plenty of opportunities to get hands-on with butchery and preparation

* 🔥 A deep dive into smoking game – fuels, fire management, techniques, flavour and timing

* 🍳 Cooking together, including seasonal sides and accompaniments

* 🍽️ A big sit-down feast to finish the day and enjoy everything we’ve cooked together

🧾 Sample Menu

Our menu will depend on the best seasonal game available, but expect dishes along the lines of:

* 🦌 Venison barbacoa

* 🐗 BBQ wild boar belly

* 🐦 BBQ game birds – think partridge, pheasant and pigeon

* 🥕 Seasonal vegetable sides and accompaniments

* 🍰 Pudding – we’re thinking something suitably autumnal… maybe pumpkin pie! 🎃

As we’re working with genuinely wild, seasonal produce, the exact menu may change depending on availability – but there will be plenty to cook and plenty to eat!

🦌 About Matt – Grove Game Larder

Passionate about the countryside and conservation, Matt Roberts of Grove Game Larder specialises in locally sourced, responsibly harvested wild game and venison.

From precise shooting in the field through to expert butchery and preparation, Matt takes enormous care over every stage of the process. His wild boar and venison supply top restaurants and are exceptional examples of just how good British wild game can be.

Matt will be sharing his knowledge throughout the day, from understanding the animal and responsible harvesting through to butchery, preparation and getting the very best from each cut.
